Heavenly Beef Rice Patties with Monkey Gland Sauce

Beef & Rice Patties
2 eggs

3 Tbsp milk
1½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp chopped parsley
1½ cups cooked Excella rice
½ onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
675 g beef mince
Excella oil for frying

6 hamburger buns

butter  or margarine
6 lettuce leaves
2 tomatoes, sliced

Monkey Gland Sauce
2 Tbsp oil 

1 onion, finely chopped
1 tsp crushed garlic
1 tin (400 g) chopped tomatoes
½ cup tomatoe sauce
3/4 cup chutney
3 T Worcester sauce 
2 Tbsp vinegar
2 T sugar
1 tsp Tabasco sauce
salt and ground black pepper to taste


Beef & Rice Patties
Beat the egg. Then add the milk, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and parsley, and beat just to mix.

Add the cooked rice and mince and mix (hands works the best) to combine the ingredients. Form the beef and rice mixture into 6 round patties. Using the palm of you hand and press it flat.

Heat a large pan over medium heat. Add oil for shallow frying, then fry the patties in the hot oil on both sides until brown and cooked.

Monkey Gland Sauce
Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat and fry the onion and garlic until soft. Add the tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes or until thick. Remove from the heat.

Cut the buns in half, spread the bottom halves with butter or margarine. Top with lettuce leaves, tomato slices and the patties. Drizzle with the sauce.

Place the top halves of the buns on top.
