Chicken with Chocolate BBQ Sauce

Chicken with Chocolate BBQ Sauce

6 pieces of chicken (thighs and drumsticks)

2 tbsp. Oil
pinch of cinamon
pinch of chilli powder
½ t dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
¼ cup chicken stock

Chocolate BBQ sauce
2 tbsp. Butter

2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, very finely chopped
1 cups ketchup or tomato sauce
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup brewed coffee
2 tbsp. Honey
2 tbsp. Vinegar
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 t dry mustard
2 t chili powder
2 t salt
1 t ground black pepper
½ t ground coriander
¼ t cayenne pepper
30 g 70% Lint Excellence dark chocolate, chopped

To Serve
boiled potatoes


Pat the chicken dry. Mix the cinnamon, chilli powder, oregano, salt and pepper and rub this mixture into the chicken. Heat a non-stick pan (with lid) until hot.  Add the oil and fry the chicken until brown all over. Reduce the heat. Add the chicken stock, cover the pan and cook until done.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and onions, cook until the onion is soft, about 4–6 minutes. Stir in the rest of the ingredients, except the chocolate, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the chocolate until melted. Use right away with the chicken, potatoes and broccoli.
