Apple Cake with Clover Bliss
Clover Apple Cake
Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 20 - 40 minutes
3 - 4 Granny Smith apples (approx. 180 g each)
130 g butter, unsalted, softened, cut in pieces
150 g sugar
30 g brandy (optional)
200 g flour
1 Tbsp (15 g) baking powder
1 pinch salt
icing sugar, for dusting
Clover Bliss Chocolate Dairy Dessert, to serve
Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Grease a round, large cake tin (26 – 28 cm).
Peel the apples, cut in quarters and remove core and seeds. Using a sharp knife, make parallel incisions on the outside of the apples, cutting down but taking care not to cut completely through. Keep aside.
Place the butter, eggs, sugar, brandy (if using), flour, baking powder and salt in the mixing bowl of the Thermomix and mix for 20 sec at speed 6.
Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and spread evenly using a spatula. Place the apple quarters on top, one next to the other, with incisions facing up.
Bake for 30—40 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a serving plate.
Dust the top of the cake with icing sugar and serve with Clover Bliss Chocolate Dairy Dessert.
