Zoe Zana
Thursday 26 May
A familiar face in South African music, Zoe started out doing musical theatre before she entered South African Idols and became a finalist in 2013. She has been performing, collaborating with other local artists, and releasing music such as her hit single ‘Bulletproof’ since then.
Last year was a big year for Zoe. She spent a lot of time in the studio, “I feel like I overworked myself in that year in terms of creativity,” says Zoe.
“I really pushed myself past my own limits. It was great for me, because I learnt a lot about myself,” she explains.
However, 2022 is about reflection and slowing down. “This year is more about my mental health, my inner peace, my physical health – because that strain of pace is not necessarily good for you as a person,” she admits.
According to Zoe, she’s enjoying the change of pace, “I’m loving it, I’m loving the journey.” She performed at Cape Town Pride this February, something that she has been doing for the last five years.
Her advice for up-and-coming artists is to always push, be consistent, and “reflect and deal with yourself so that the product you put out there can resonate with people.”
Tune in to catch her performances of ‘Price Tag’ by Jessie J and ‘Zombie’ by The Cranberries in our studio.
