Yvonne Chaka Chaka

Yvonne has been at the forefront of South Africa’s music for over 27 years.

She made her first appearance on screen in 1981 and has shared the stage with artists such as Johnny Clegg, Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and many more. She experienced a rise as an artist with pop melodies and dance music during the height of apartheid.
Throughout her career Yvonne has worked alongside Nelson Mandela as she was chosen by him to be the first ambassador for his children’s fund and she then later on established her own charity, the Princess of Africa Foundation.

We chat to her about the memories she has shared with Madiba.
