A national treasure! The magical voice behind ‘Afrikan Dream’ - a song that inspired a nation and a continent in 1996 when she opened and closed the ceremonies of the African Cup of Nations Football competition held in South Africa.
Born to sing is telling of the tale of her life, following in the footsteps of her father who was a member of the Golden Dixies. Her singing career began when she entered a talent competition, which she won, and subsequently joined a band called ‘Last Dawn’.
Her rise continued, following a stint on SABC’s ‘Follow That Star’, and then ‘Soft Shoes’.
Performing with an array of bands across Africa, Vicky staked her claim as a vocal powerhouse, recording and releasing her debut album ‘Shine’ in 1992.
Performing for Nelson Mandela on his 90th birthday in 2008, Vicky has cemented her place in the heart of Africans across the globe and brings her prowess to the Afternoon Express loft.
