Tsakisani Mondlani has always loved being in front of the camera.
She grew up in Pretoria. Tsakisani remembers her mother saying, “This girl! Why’re you dancing all the time? Why’re you acting all the time?”
“I used to always want to be in front of the camera, whether it was pictures or videos – that’s why I ended up on screen!” she says.
Her interest in ballet soon turned to stage. After training as a thespian, she ventured from stage to screen acting. The young actress has graced many South African television screens, acting in telenovelas such as ‘Scandal’, ‘Wounds’ and ‘Isithembiso’.
However, stage will always hold a special place in Tsakisani’s heart. “I only started flipping to screen recently. The one thing that I like so much about stage is that it’s live. There’s no cut, camera, action,” she says.
The social media side of Tsakisani’s career came naturally. She has amassed over 200K followers on Instagram and 180K followers on Twitter. “It found me because I like taking pictures of things, and myself, and then it ended up being a career!”
“One thing about social media is that it can be anything… It’s a platform for you to put yourself out there,” she says. “I thought to myself, let me not wait for this one job to come to me, let me push [my acting] and see where it can take me. And I think it’s taken me quite far.”
The actress and media personality also has an interest in property. She recently completed a Property and Investment course at UCT. “Being a multifaceted human being is something that makes me. Property is a huge thing, I want to work so that I can invest my money into property,” she says.
