Entrepreneur and Philanthropist
We sit down with Tim Hogins, a man that went from working as a security guard to becoming a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.
Tim’s story begins on the streets of Randfontein, Johannesburg. After matriculating in 1996, Tim went on to do a field security course and worked as a security guard for a year.
During this time, he first heard about a bursary initiative for an IT programming course. After multiple failed attempts, he received the bursary and qualified as a MCSE and IT technician.
After working at a small IT firm, Tim went on to work at Dimension Data as an IT consultant before he eventually joined EOH in 2007. While at EOH, Tim realised that he wanted to start his own business, one that was focused on outdoor gyms.
After being retrenched from EOH in 2010, Tim decided to pursue his idea and started Green Outdoor Gyms. Today, he celebrates 10 years in business.
