Since winning The Voice SA in 2019 and becoming the youngest and first woman to do so, Tasché has continued to carve out her own space as the new generation Afrikaans rocker.
She released ‘Sal Jy Vir My Wag’ at the end of 2022. “I knew it was that it was a great song, written by Hiram Koopman, but I didn’t expect it to do that well in such a short amount of time,” she says.
The single currently has over 500k views on YouTube. “I’m very grateful that I get to sing some of his songs, and I’m hoping to do a couple more.”
Her latest single, ‘Prentjies’, was co-written by Hiram. “When I first listened to the song, ek het prentjies gesien. It wasn’t just about listening to the song – I actually saw the song playing out.”
“That’s the beautiful thing about ‘Prentjies’. I hope that happens to everyone who listens to it,” she adds.
Since The Voice SA, Tasché and her mentor Francois van Coke have been close friends. They’ve released collaborations in the past and are currently working on a new one.
“We were in studio a couple of days ago. We have a demo for the song, but we’re still working on it. I think it’ll be cool and hopefully we can release it as soon as possible. It’s not necessarily a punk rockfish vibe, it’s more of a country vibe,” she says.
While she can’t give us a title just yet, Tasché shared that the song is about leaving people behind when you die. “The lyric there is ‘ek gaan jou mis as ek weg is. I think it can resonate with a lot of people.”
The talented musician and her partner Jo-Lene tied the knot last year “It’s basically the same, we’ve been living together from the start so nothing much has changed. It’s amazing, I’m very thankful for my wife. She supports me in everything.”
