You may recognise Tara Courtené Cannon and her growing family from her popular videos on TikTok. The fashion designer started her TikTok account in 2020, to keep herself busy during lockdown. Today, she has over 62k followers on the app!
 
Her husband, Wade, who features in many videos, says he enjoys helping her create content.
 
“I like to capture real, raw moments and share it. Nothing’s scripted, it is what it is,” says Tara.
 
“When I started social media, it was about blogging. Physically blogging, just taking photos... Instagram was just pictures. Then we had to adapt, start making videos,” she says. “Now it’s about the funny, people want to see the raw moments. We just have to keep rolling with the times.”
 
Tara is also the designer and owner of Bernali Designs, a clothing brand that is based in Wellington, Western Cape. The brand focuses on designing and producing high-quality garments that are long-lasting and affordable.
 
Her latest collection was inspired by ready-to-wear fashion and getting ready for summer. “I like things that are comfortable and ready to wear,” she says.
 
Life is busy for the Cannon’s; between raising their toddler, Asia, recently moving, and prepping for baby number 2, they’ve got their hands full.
 
“[Asia has] really been a blessing and she brings joy to everybody. Wherever she goes, she’s just a light,” says Tara.
