Tapiwa Munyawiri
Chef and Caterer
We are celebrating Africa Month with the help of Chef and Caterer, Tapiwa Munyawiri, as he joins us for an African-inspired cook-a-long
Tapiwa’s cooking journey began at the age of 5 when his late mother would allow him to do as he pleased in the kitchen. She must have seen something in her son because soon, she made it his duty to cook in the kitchen.
He found his way to South Africa in 2008 and enrolled for a National Diploma in Hospitality Management through the Vaal University of Technology. After completing his diploma, he was taken in by TSOGO Sun Group of Hotels. Over the years, he went up in the rankings before he pursued a business opportunity and opened up a catering business in 2015.
Unfortunately, his catering business closed down three years later. Chef Tapiwa then joined the Unilever Food Solutions Chef of the year competition, solidifying his love for the kitchen.
He moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town in 2019. Today, he is the proud owner of 274 Eats, a Catering business he runs from his home in Tableview, Cape Town. Chef Tapiwa is a clear example of never giving up, no matter how much you stumble.
