We chat to the creator of South Africa's Nativechild Sonto Pooe about building a world class natural hair care brand.
 
As a child, Sonto was obsessed with her hair however, she experienced numerous struggles with regards to her hair and skin. As a result, she had to use very natural ingredients on a skin and the idea of Nativechild was born
 
Nativechild is a natural ingredient-based hair care and body care brand that caters for women of colour with Afro, Kinky or Ethnic type hair. All products are developed and manufactured locally.
 
Nativechild use plant based, natural, safe and sustainable ingredients and at times, they use food grade oils where possible. Their products do not contain harsh chemicals and are all animal-cruelty free.
 
Sonto served as a council member for the Society Cosmetic Chemists of South Africa and was part of their education committee from 2007 to 2011.
