Siyabonga Radebe
Originally from Durban but now living in Johannesburg, Siyabonga Radebe is an award-winning actor, writer, singer, director, and stand-up comedian. He will be joining us this afternoon for our weekly Cook-a-long episode.
Before going to screen acting, Siyabonga started out as a stand-up comedian and stage actor and still does some theatre work, some of his most notable theatre productions including Blacks Like Me (directed by Aldo Brincat), Cheap Show (directed by Craig Vinjoan), Grin and Bear It (directed by Tim Plewman), Closer (directed by Sello Maake Ka-Ncube).
Siyabonga is known for his roles on the SABC1 drama series A Place Called Home, from 2006-2009. he is also known for such roles as in Rhythm City, the SABC1 drama series Intersexions, the SABC1 mini-series uGugu no Andile, the SABC1 legal drama series Sokhulu & Partners and most recently Saints & Sinners.
He has also had notable success in feature film roles such as the award-winning ‘District 9’ in 2009, the 2014 Drama ‘Between Friends’ and recently in the Afrikaans film ‘Sink’, which was selected for 40th Atlanta Film Festival. Whichever way you look at it, Siyabonga is an entertainer to the core.
