We are joined by radio presenter and, journalist and now author, Sara Jayne King, who has been in the industry for over a decade. She joins us to discuss her book, which she wrote about her life, ‘Killing Karoline.’
Sara was born in Apartheid South Africa, and had a difficulties with self identification due the fact that she was the result of an illegal affair between a white British mother and a black South African man. In her memoir, she tells the of how she grew up struggling with identifying who she is, after being smuggled out of South Africa to England, under a pretence of undergoing medical treatment. She was then given up for adoption, her birth mother told her family that the baby had died while undergoing treatment. This has now led to a deep passion of issues related to race, adoption, addiction, mental health and identity. The book explores ‘racial absurdities, inner torment and identity.’
