Runtown
We are Joined by international, Nigerian born artist, Douglas Jack Agu, who is better known by his stage name Runtown. He is known as one of the biggest artists to emerge from Africa, Runtown is a singer, songwriter and producer. He was born in Enugu State but was raised in Lagos and Abuja, and finished his primary school education there. He studied Management of Fashion Industry at the Fashion School of Technology in New York, but music seemed to have had too strong a hold over him,
Runtown’s musical style is very diverse, it ranges from hip-hop, R&B, reggae, rap afrobeats and dancehall. His music has helped to Afrobeats and African music as whole, to the rest of the world. He got global success with hit songs such as ‘Gallardo’ with Davido and ‘Mad Over You,’ the latter of which has received over 35 million views on YouTube and a few months after that he went on to sign a multi-million Naira contract with Eric-Manny Entertainment.
Before that however, he had internal success in Africa with songs such as ‘Party Like It's 1980’ and ‘Activity Pikin’, which were released under the record label Penthauz, which he and Phyno had formed.
