Barista at Tribe Coffee

Calling all coffee lovers! We welcome Barista, Romeo Chimunya, from Tribe Coffee, as he helps us explore the magnificent flavour of coffee.

In the early 2000s, Romeo began his career in the coffee industry as a barista in Cape Town. He joined the team at the coffee company Bean as their in-house coffee trainer and assistant coffee roaster. 

In 2016, he moved to Tribe Coffee to work as their Barista trainer and has been with them ever since. For three years he studied under the lead roasters until he went up in the ranks to Junior Coffee Roaster and Senior Barista Trainer.

Romeo has made a name for himself in the coffee industry, having won the South African Aeropress Championship in 2018, which provided him with the opportunity to travel to Australia to compete against the world’s best.
