Petite Noir is Yannick Ilunga, the 26-year old South African genre- defying artist and producer from Cape Town. His debut album, "La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful" was released in September 2015 on Domino Records, to international acclaim. Born in Brussels to his Congolese Father and Angolan mother, the family moved to Cape Town when Ilunga was 3 years old – via a stint in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ivory Cost for his father’s work. It’s the combination of his African heritage, and his international upbringing, that has influenced his work and allowed him to create what has been described as Noirwave; Petite Noirs’ “unique” sound – “pop music’s future” (Pitchfork)
