Nonhlanhla “Skolopad” Qwabe


The daring and often risqué Nonhlanhla who goes by the stage name ‘Skolopad’, joins us in the loft. If you are not familiar with her name then you must not of seen or head of any of the music award shows this year, because you should most definitely familiar with her pictures. She is the lady in yellow at the Metro Awards, after all.

Nonhlanhla “Skolopad” is not just ‘the lady in the yellow dress’ though, there is deeper story behind her and that’s what we will be touching on. Skolopad is a budding musician but behind that she is a single mother to a teenage daughter, sexual abuse survivor and a nurse. Skolopad has said that she has a great relationship with her daughter who even helps her pick out her attention grabbing outfits.

Skolopad was born and raised in QwaQwa but is currently based in the Free State were she has been working as a nurse for the past eight years. Skolopad means tortoise and Nonhlahla feels like she can relate to it on many ways, such as being an independent that doesn’t rush into things.
