Mr Thela and Mshayi

Joining us is DJs and Producers Mr Thela and Mshayi as they chat to us about their debut album ‘Make Cape Town Great Again’ before giving us an upbeat performance.
 
They first made a name for themselves as a duo in 2020 with their breakout song ‘iParty’ featuring vocalist T-Man. The song was a success and is considered to be one of South Africa’s most celebrated songs of 2020.
 
Their debut album ‘Make Cape Town Great Again’ had over thousand (200 000) downloads in the first 24 hours after its release. The album has 25 tracks.
 
The Cape Town-based duo also joined forces and opened up their own record label Shaya Records. The label aims to put Cape Town on the “gqom map” and is the first township-based record label.
 
The opened up the record label as coming from humble beginnings, they realized the importance of grooming young artists from disadvantaged backgrounds
