Mikie Monoketsi
Joining us in studio today is business woman and entrepreneur Mikie Monoketsi.
She is based in Johannesburg having started out her business and entrepreneurship journey with a Call Centre business that ultimately failed. Having gone through losing her business and her partner through divorce. That experience has taught her a lifetime of lessons, rising from the ashes with multiple successful businesses. She started her next business “Mama’s Spices and Herbs” in her journey trying to stay healthy. She searched for affordable healthy eating products and this was when she decided to create her own. She states that sometimes all you need is a will to pick up the pieces and keep moving forward. With the help of a friend she met through networking she was able to launch her brand of spices and later on healthy tea. She did a lot of research focusing more on the product and not the sales and marketing of the product. Her sales and marketing skills had to change, as it was not an easy task to get products out into retail stores. She did not give up and managed to profitably penetrate the market.
Her main focus is on empowering woman, like her. She build up a national network of agents. The business kept growing introducing other products. Today Mikie is launching a new product line of basic makeup kits suitable to use under African conditions. She made it her business to understand the black female consumer market in South Africa.
