Mi Casa
House musical trio Mi Casa, joins us in studio. They are regarded as arguebly one of the biggest musical acts to emerge from South Africa, in a long time. The trio join us, after the release of their fourth studio album, titled ‘Familia.’
The group consists of producer and keyboard player Dr duda, trumpeter Mo-T, and singer J’Something. The award winning band burst onto the music scene in 2011 with their smash hit ‘These Streets,’ 6 years and 4 albums later, they are now considered one of Africa’s biggest exports. With a soulful house sound, their performances and music are in their own lane, connecting people across all planes of ethnicity or background, all through their diverse rich sound.
Their recent album Familia, was released on 4 August 2017, with the song Nana being the first official single off the album. It hasn’t been an easy road for them however, as they had thoughts of disbanding in early 2017, due to a few issues within the team.
"Musically on this record, we have been inspired a lot by our heritage, our culture, our countries, namely South Africa and Portugal. Before every recording session we spent an hour listening to different songs from way back, just to be inspired, to be influenced."
