ABOUT THE ACTOR

MARKUS HAYWOOD
When were you born and where?
I was born on 15 March 1991 in Ellisras, Limpopo.

Which school did you matriculate from?
Hoërskool Rustenburg in 2008.

What was your favourite subject?
Subjects are probably not the best thing about school, who enjoys learning? But if I must say it would have to be mathematics.

What is your fondest memory about school? The friendships one forges, the spirit, the sports and at one point I was in the boarding house. That was a great time.

Where did you study drama?
I never studies drama. I only started acting a few years after I finished school.

What was your first job ever?
I was a barman in high school from about 16:00 to 02:00. I got R300 a night and I saved that money till I could buy a guitar.

How long have you been on 7de Laan?
Since 13 february 2015.

What was your first day on set like?

Very interesting, especiallysince my first scene was quite a dramatic entrance. I also found it intimidating especially since I did not study drama. I had never been part of any big production before and I had to perform in a room full of most of the 7de Laan cast in my first scene. Quite nerve wrecking but also an awesome experience.

What do you love about being a member of the 7de Laan cast?
I can act for a living, That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. I work with amazing actors, directors and a verycapable team behind the scens. The free breakfast and lunch doesn’t hurt either. ;0)

What do you like least about being a member of 7de Laan?
I can’t really think of anything to complain about. I feel really blessed to be a part of this production. If I HAVE to say something it would be the very early mornings.

What has been your most memorable fan experience on 7de Laan?
I haven’t been around long enough to really say I have fans. All the 7de Laan fans I’ve spoken to are really warm people and are quite enthusiastic about the show.

What would you like to see your character achieve or do?
Any actor wants to see their character grow, develop relationships and how they cause conflict. It makes the role an interesting one to play.

What crazy thing would you like to see your character do?
I would like to see the character go over to the dark side – maybe he can kill someone but the other characters would be completely unaware. I thik it would be nice to play the lie. I’d also like to play my own twin brother (probably a bit of a cliché though).
