We celebrate Proudly SA music with SAMA Spokesperson Lesley Mofokeng and chat about its value for our economy.
Lesley started his career over two decades ago as an intern at the Sunday Times. At the time, he was a recent graduate from the University of North West where he completed a BA Hons degree in Communication.
Since then, Lesley has developed into a confident writer, writing for prominent South African newspapers, and even published his own book – Bitch, Please! I Am Khanyi Mbau. During his 10 years at the Sunday Times, Lesley got exposure to different genres of reporting and eventually ended up in entertainment writing.
He has extensive knowledge and contacts in the South African music, TV and arts scene and as a result, he recently became the new spokesperson for the South African Music Awards.
The South African Music Awards in a music showcase that is hosted by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). The event happens every year in honour of South Africa’s finest music talents.
