We chat to Designer Lesedi Baakwalanya about his new collection ‘Seditsi Collection’ that was showcased at the AFI Fashion Week. The collection is available through the AFI Designer Boutique.
 
His collection tells African stories and spiritualism through fashion. Seditsi Collection is a womenswear line that consists of cocoon shapes, experimental structures and lavish floral prints. The structures and the fabrics he used in his designs adds to the African storytelling nature he is trying to portray through his pieces.
 
Lesedi’s collection was inspired by his late mother and has a specific collection called ‘Martha 31’ that is dedicated to his mother. Lesedi is making waves in the fashion industry as he is also the recipient of the World Rising Star Design Award in fashion.
