Jo-anne Reyneke
We are joined by actress Jo-anne Reyneke, in the loft. Jo-anne is best known for her role as Pearl Mduli, on the SABC 2 SAFTA nominated soap opera Muvhango, that she joined in 2009.
Jo-anne was born in Pietermaritzburg, and started her love for performing at a young age, where she even took up drama in high school, and later in college. Her large breakthrough roles were in Muvhango, and in Rhythm City, where she played the role of Prudence Oliphant. She has also had guest appearances in the highly popular and controversial SABC 1 drama series Intersexions.
In her personal life she grew up being raised by her mother, saying that she had a happy childhood even though they were not well off. She was the middle child to her parents, as she had a black mother whom had three other children all of whom were black, and her father a white man who also had three other children who were all white, and being the only mixed race child in her family wasn’t always easy. Jo-anne shares a daughter with fellow actor Thami Mngqolo, whom she has recently split from earlier in the year. Jo-anne managed being a mother and actress well finding a balance for it, and in 2018 she won a Best Actress in a Drama category SAFTA, for her role in Broken Vows.
