JJ Schoeman
JJ Schoeman has been one of South Africa’s top Fashion Designers since the 90’s.
JJ Schoeman graduated from fashion school in 1985 and worked from home through the 90’s designing daywear and glamorous eveningwear for famous personalities and celebrities. Besides fashion, JJ also designed for a memorable list of local theatrical productions including The Rocky Horror Show, Girl Talk, Rumba in the Jungle, Broadway Babes, New York State of Mind and “Vere” to mention a few.
His initial label was launched in 1995. By 2003 JJ had opened both a fashion studio and a boutique in Rosebank. Today the label is JJ Schoeman, specializing in exclusive womens wear for clients who include beauty queens, top celebrities and high profile businesswomen.
Known and respected for his ability to create sophisticated and glamorous gowns fusing traditional and euro-centric fashion styling, JJ showed his collection twice in New York at the International Couture Fashion Week at West Side Loft in addition to a special viewing at the historical Waldorf Hotel on 5th Avenue.
For the past seven years he has designed amongst others for Miss South Africa and Miss SA Teen, representing South Africa. JJ has designed for the Miss World and the Miss Universe since 2005. The National Costume placed second at the Miss Universe 2006. Zhi lin Zhang Miss World 2007 was dressed by JJ for The Mayors Welcome Ball in Johannesburg during Miss World 2008. He was also part of the panel of prelim judges for Miss SA 2008 & 2009 and celebrity judge for Miss SA Teen 2008.
The Guide Dog Association for the Blind and the Wag and Wow Animal Charity for animals in distress in conjunction with “Free Me” are charities that JJ participates in.
