We connect with Foodie and Recipe Developer, Imtiyaaz Hart, for an egg-citing cook-a-long.

Born and raised in Port Elizabeth, Imtiyaaz moved to the Mother City at the age of 21 in pursuit of opportunities. He soon developed a love for Cape Town and considers the city to be his home. 

Imtiyaaz’s love for cooking, like many, came from helping his late grandmother, Gasia, in the kitchen as a child. It was from those moments that he developed a passion for cooking that he took into his adult years. 

As an adult, Imtiyaaz enjoyed entertaining his friends and throwing dinner parties. It was during these times that he started playing around in the kitchen. He eventually decided to start taking cooking seriously and started entering competitions. 

His most notable achievements has been being a finalist on The Tastemaster SA and being a winner on Come Dine With Me South Africa. 

Outside of cooking, Imtiyaaz had a career in the media industry but unfortunately, as a result of Covid-19, he was retrenched from his job but out of the tough situation, came a positive opportunity. 

He decided to pursue his passion for cooking and started doing recipe and content development. He soon won a 3 year bursary and is currently studying the Advanced Professional Cooking programme through the Capsicum Culinary School. 

He hopes to one day work as a chef in the UK, Asia and Europe before returning to his home and eventually opening up his own restaurant.
