Hope malau is our Cook-a-long guest chef this afternoon
The Sotho born Hope Malau, grew up in Klerksdorp in the North West Province.
The love for cooking was installed in Hope at a young age by his father, who worked at a mine kitchen and Hope would often accompany him to work. This would then lead him to studying at the Professional Cooking Academy in Rustenburg.
Hope has gained recognition while working at various restaurants around Cape Town, he started out as junior cook at the Tea Garden. He would then go on to become the weekly Food Editor for Drum Magazine and gets the chance to share South Africa's food heritage with everyone. In 2015 he received the Food Writer of the Year 2015 Award and the prestigious Galliova Food Writer Awards.
