Gift of the Givers

Gift of the Givers
NGO and disaster relief group
Ali Sablay, the Gift of the Givers Project Manager, joins us on the show today to speak about their KwaZulu-Natal flood relief and what we can do to help those affected by the floods.
The organisation is currently the largest disaster response NGO in Africa, while they also assist with hunger alleviation, water provision, healthcare, education and human development. Gift of the Givers has been operating for 29 years and are active in 44 countries.
KwaZulu-Natal residents are still navigating the aftermath of the damage caused by heavy rain and floods on 13 April. Many are left without water or exposed to sewage leakages because of damage to sanitation infrastructure, with the cost of the damage caused to water and sanitation infrastructure estimated to be more than R1 billion.
At the moment, Gift of the Givers has a team in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, who are on the ground assisting the communities affected by the floods.
