Dr Neville Wellington
He is a GP in private practice who, after treating patients with diabetes for many years, decided to improve my knowledge in the field by studying further. He did a 2-year diploma through the University of Cardiff and now run, as part of my GP practice, a diabetic clinic. His interests have shifted to treating diabetes with low carbohydrate diets with careful monitoring of glucose levels.
Patients are empowered to monitor themselves and to ‘research’ what works for themselves. He and his team use a team approach with nurses and a diabetes educator. He is part of the Noakes Foundation and was inspired by Prof Noakes to look into the LCHF lifestyle for patients. Many of his patients have benefitted, and it is now a standard recommendation in my practice.
