Dr Anthony Ribbink
It’s plastic free July and we chat to Dr Anthony Ribbink about the dangers of plastic to our seas and why it is important to recycle.
Plastic in the ocean harms more than 300 000, marine animals every year, where some creatures get entangled in the plastic others consume it, which ends up clogging their digestive systems and causing death. When plastic gets thrown in the ocean the majority of the time it sinks to the sea floor. Sadly plastic waste that finds it way into the ocean will remain there for potentially eons, because plastic does not rot or get dissolved.
