DJ Zinhle

We are joined by the one and only DJ Zinhle. In an industry primarily dominated by men DJ Zinhle is certainly keeping up with the best of them, as one of the only female house Djs at the time she started, Zinhle has certainly made her mark in the industry. She is not just an accomplished DJ but also a mother to a beautiful 2 year daughter named Kairo Owethu Forbes, which means “our victorious one,” who she shares with rapper AKA.

The SAMA and Metro FM Awards nominated Ntombezinhle Jiyane, better known as DJ Zinhle, comes from Dannhauser in KwaZulu Natal. She never had the ambition of becoming a DJ, as her initial goal was to become a television presenter, until her brother who owned a company that hired out sound equipment, started showing her how to mix, at home. She would then go on to performing her first gig, for her brother’s event, when the DJ showed up late.

She officially broke into the industry when she got her first big break on the SABC1 dance show Jika Majika, which she was a resident for from 2006 until 2009. DJ Zinhle was the first South African female DJ to release a house compilation. She became a household name after the release of her 2012 smash hit “My Name Is” which featured Busiswa.
