Chef Sepial Shim
Chef and Owner of Sepial’s Kitchen
Chef Sepial Shim takes our taste buds on a journey to East Asia with today’s Korean-inspired cook-a-long.
Located in Salt River, Cape Town, Sepial’s Kitchen has made a name for itself in the Cape Town restaurant scene as it is known for its delicious bowls of Korean-inspired food. The restaurant is only 54 square metres in size and caters for all dietary requirements including vegans and diabetics. As a result of the pandemic and needing more space, Chef Sepial decided to start trading her dumplings at the V&A Food Market.
Chef Sepial’s culinary journey began at Silwood School of Cookery where she was taught and encouraged to use local and seasonal ingredients as often as possible. But having memories of the food she used to enjoy in Korea and also developing a love for South African cuisine, Chef Sepial started joining elements from the two country’s cuisines together.
