Today we are joined by the ‘Hostess with the mostest’ Cathy Specific. The seductive and saucy bombshell is the alter-ego of award-winning performer Brendan van Rhyn, you may recognise her from being the host of the legendary Madame Zingara dinner theatre productions and more recently Cathy and the Trolley Dollies.
Cathy made her big debut in 2007 with “Mile High – with Cathy Specific”, which saw her shooting for the stars and she hasnt come back since. Cathy is a show stopper on any stage, as she has also hosted the Mr Gay South Africa pageant on numerous occasions as well as the Mr Gay World competition and she has also been a judge for the South African Royalty Soapie Awards.
Last year Cathy and Brendan teamed up to open a glamorous dinner theatre in the popular Bree Street in the Cape Town CBD. The theatre is the home of her latest cabaret show, Cathy and the Trolley Dollies. The show touches on a satirical take on the airline industry, and what air hostess’ have to constantly deal with, all brought to you in a sassy way that only Cathy and her Dollies can deliver.
The musical follows Cathy, Holly and Molly’s adventures 35 000 feet above sea-level, they are the stewardess’ that men want and women want to be them. Every thing is grand and over the top with this production from the delicious mouth watering food such as designer mezze served on a double-tiered Lazy Susan, a separate hot soup and bread service as well as a mouth-watering purple Patron soft serve ice-cream for dessert. The airline themed cocktails and the beautiful and artistic set designs are all things that will grab you attention and make this a show not to be missed.
