Bigstar Johnson
This Wednesday, Hustle alumni and musician Bigstar Johnson chats to us about his two-year break from the music scene and his brand-new single “Ye” as an independent artist.
Bigstar shares that he did a lot of soul searching during his break and that one of the biggest lessons he learnt during that time was to be present in every situation.
“The break was really just to realign with myself. I just got the point where I felt like I was losing touch.”
Bigstar made his debut in 2015 as the first winner of the hip-hop reality competition, “The Vuzu Hustle.”The competition landed him a management deal with the Vth Season. He’s subsequently gone on to perform at some of South Africa’s largest music events and has shared the stage with numerous prominent artists in the country’s music industry.
“Ye” released last month - it’s a groovy and uplifting song that’s his first fully independent release, and the first single from his upcoming EP. It’s available on YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify.
