World Honey Bee Day with Holy Alpha

Did you know that this Saturday is World Honey Bee Day? We often take nature for granted,  but World Honey Bee Day is a day to celebrate the importance of bees and the vital role they play in pollination. Bees help pollinate over 90% of the world’s crops!
 
We are joined by up-and-coming rapper from Khayelitsha, Holy Alpha, in the kitchen. Stay tuned for her energy-filled performance of her latest hit single, ‘iNkunzi’, which closes off the show.
 
The first recipe will have you singing ‘Honey Honey’ in your kitchen, a Burnt Honey Crème Caramel. The burnt taste of the honey pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the custard. When cooking the honey, don’t be afraid to cook it until it is dark brown. Top tip: dip the cake tin in some hot water for 1-2 minutes after refrigeration to easily remove the crème caramel.
 
Our Bee Sting Cake is a great way to create a buzz amongst your friends and to celebrate the hardworking honeybee. The “bienenstich” or bee sting cake originated in Germany and is a favourite in many households there.
