Happy Women’s Day! To celebrate, we have the lovely chefs Mogau Seshoene, also known as The Lazy Makoti, and Zanele Van Zyl joining us in the kitchen with a line-up of sweet treats.
 
Mogau and Zanele are currently on a joint book tour for their bestselling cookbooks, ‘Hosting with the Lazy Makoti’ and ‘Cooking with Zanele’.
 
The first recipe of today’s show is for Granadilla Sandwich Cookies. With vanilla on the outside and a delicious granadilla ganache on the inside, our chefs show you how to take the classic sandwich cookie to the next level.
 
Top tip: Place the cookie dough into the freezer for about 5 minutes before baking, this will help the cookies to brown and spread less.
 
Your mouth will water when you see our Brioche Cinnamon Rolls. Made using the Kenwood Chef Patissier XL, these sweet treats are the perfect addition to your afternoon tea.
 
Brioche is a bread cross pastry of French origin. It’s high egg and butter content gives it a rich and tender crumb. We have braided these buns into rosettes, but you can assemble them in the traditional way in a sheet pan.
 
There is arguably no better way to celebrate Women’s Day than with a beautiful cake. Our last recipe is a Yoghurt and Sour Fig Jam Cake. (Ja dames, ‘n lekker suurvytjie konfyt!)
 
Sour figs are an endemic creeping succulent species, growing in the sandy soils of the Northern, Western and Eastern Cape. We’ve used Clover Authentikos to give the cake a really decadent and moist texture.
