Let’s beef things up with SimulationRxps
Tuesday 5 July
July is Mandela Month, we celebrate the life and legacy of former President Nelson Mandela. It’s a time for each South African to reflect and meditate on themselves, but also to give back and focus on the needs of others.
Our theme for today’s episode is ‘Let’s beef things up’, which means Chef Tumi and Chef Jay are bringing us an array of hearty recipes.
We have up-and-coming hip hop artist SimulationRxps in the loft performing two of his songs, ‘Phezkwezinto’ and ‘Yizo Yizo’ featuring Bravo Le Roux.
Chef Tumi kicks things off with a beautiful Breakfast Crème Brulee. Technically a crème brulee is a dessert of custard topped with caramelized sugar. However, for this recipe we are using Jungle Oat So Easy as the base to give you the same creamy texture but without the fuss.
Next we have a hearty Beef and Tomato Bredie – true comfort food at its finest. This bredie is slow cooked on the stove to make the most of tough meat cuts. Slow simmering helps to break down the collagen in the meat, making it juicy and tender.
Today is all about ‘beefing up’ your wintery meals, which means we had to include a Wintery Beef Bowl. This recipe is a take on the Korean staple ‘Bibimbap’, meaning ‘mixed rice’. The rest of the ingredients are up to the taste and budget of the diner. Top tip: marinating your meat for longer ensures a more tender and succulent result.
We finish things off in the kitchen with a Meatball Bobotie Bake. We bake them individually by using muffin pans, which makes it easier for serving. This recipe includes your daily two fruits and three veggies with KOO.
