Human Rights Day with the Khayelitsha Youth Choir
Tuesday 21 March
Happy Human Rights Day! Tata Madiba once said, “To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.” So today, we pay tribute to the people who fought for our basic human rights.
The uplifting sounds of the Khayelitsha Youth Choir will be filling our studio, as they perform ‘Stand Up’ and ‘Siyanqanda’. We sit down with Nkosikho Juqu, project manager of the Rainbow Arts Organization to hear about their amazing work.
On social media we want to hear from you, what makes you proud to be South African?
Chef Tumi kicks things off with a Full House Kota – local is most definitely lekker! Topped with slap chips, Russians, cheese and fried eggs all smothered in lekker sauces, this is a recipe you’ll want to try.
Our Granadilla Fridge Tart is easy to prepare and is packed with delicious, punchy granadilla flavours. Pro tip: whip up ½ cup of whipped cream and fold it through the mixture before transferring it to the biscuit base.
A freshly made hot-off-the-coals Roosterkoek is the perfect side dish for a braai, and even better for breakfast the next day! Chef Jay takes us through a masterclass on making this South African staple from scratch.
Tumi and Jay compete in a Human Rights Day themed trivia challenge. Play along at home and let us know on social media how many you got correct.
These Corn and Cheese Pap Balls with Tomato Relish are the perfect side to elevate your next braai. Get creative with your fillings, you can also stuff the pap balls with mushroom, spinach or feta.
