Soccer stars Matthew Booth and Stanton Fredericks join the ladies for Afternoon Express
Today we’re focussing our attention on South Africa’s most popular sport; soccer.
We’re joined by two veterens of the South African soccer scene, former Bafana Bafana stars. First up we’ll be chatting to Stanton Fredericks, who has played for South Africa as well as a host of clubs around the world. We also have in the loft today, all the way from the UK, international sports presenter, Sarah Stone. She’s covered the Olympics and the Premier League on BBC Sports. She’ll be giving us some insight into her industry including what it's like to be a female analyst in a what many perceive to be a male-dominated industry.
To finish it off, we’re joined by representatives of two organisations that are laying the groundwork to develop the sport of soccer in South Africa. The first is Try Again, an all-woman soccer club from Cape Town, and the second is Grass Roots Soccer South Africa, who are using soccer to help educate the youth on the dangers of HIV. Jeannie is standing by with our second soccer legend.
