Episode 138 • 13 November 2015
Afternoon Express takes you down memory lane with a Freddie Mercury impersonator and pinup girls.
If you were completely gaga about any the 50s and 70s, then today's Afternoon Express is just for you. Pinup girls were the symbol of beauty and style throughout the 1950s and were named so for the photos of these models and actresses that were pinned-up to the walls of fans. In the loft we have international pin-up sensation Gabbi Katz, popularly known throughout the pinup community as The Blue Haired Betty. She'll be chatting to us about the Dusty Rebels and the Bombshell Rockabilly Festival in Cape Town over the weekend.
Queen is arguably one of the most popular rock bands of all time and their music is timeless and appeals to several generations of fans. Tribute bands such as Its a Kind of Magic keeps Queen's legacy alive, and performing in the loft today is Giles Taylor, frontman for the aforementioned band.
Also on the show, we chat to one of Freddie Mercury's closest friends Peter Freestone, Sean Bovim talks to us about his Private Presley stage production, and on the menu in the kitchen are smoor snoek fishcakes.
Loved what our presenters were all geared up in for today's Afternoon Express?
