Episode 135 • 10 November 2015
Today we've got some veterans of the dance music scene who will be talking about the booming house music industry, with one of them even bringing down the house!
First up, all the way from America, we’re chatting to the soulful jazz house singer, Monique Bingham, who has been in the industry for 20 years. She chats to us about her music and treats us to a special performance.
We also have one of South Africa’s most iconic and popular deep house DJ’s, Lady Lea, in the loft. Today we’re chatting all about how house music took its roots in South Africa and has shaped our national identity. So even if you’re not a big fan of the music style, we’re sure you will learn a lot about this fascinating industry.
Taking a break from music, we also have the director of the Titanic Exhibition which just displays actual recovered artefacts from the original shop wreck.
We’re also joined by two local music legends, DJ Christos, and Vinnie da Vinci, who have both been integral in building South Africa’s dance scene and have entertained listeners across the country Metro FM’s Urban Beat on Friday night for years.
In the kitchen today I’m joined by Aimee Pleass from Woolies and we are making lamb chops with an interesting fruity glaze. We also take care of pudding with guest chef Giorgio Nava who shows us how to make the delicious Italian dessert Sabayon with berries.
