Caramel with Kingdmusic
Thursday 16 February
Today’s show is all about caramel and love! Did you know that people have enjoyed these golden-brown sweets for hundreds of years? The first types of caramels were hard candies that date as far back as the 17th century.
On social media, we want to hear from you: what is your go to recipe that has caramel as an ingredient?
Award-winning Gospel Artist, Kingdmusic, joins us in studio with two performances and to discuss his latest album.
To kick things off in the kitchen, Chef Jay shows us two different ways to make caramel. Take note, caramel can get extremely hot – ensure you use oven mittens when handling.
Our Vietnamese Caramel Style Beef is sure to be your new weeknight favourite. Use the same pan to cook the caramel sauce after the beef, this incorporates the flavours well.
Add to your baking repertoire with Jay’s Candied Hazelnuts Hack. They’re great as a snack but even better as a decoration for cakes or cupcakes.
The next recipe is straight from caramel heaven, and perfect for those with a sweet tooth! Our Decadent Caramel Cake uses three different types of caramel: essence, sauce and tinned. Each carefully selected and used in different components.
Last up is an all-time classic, but diary-free. You’ll know when our Mango Crème Brûlée is ready when the outside edges of the custard are set and has a soft center.
