The Ultimate Frankfurter

The Ultimate Frankfurter
with sweet pickle relish

Serves: 6
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time:  20 minutes
 
4 Frankfurters
3t Canola oil
2t Butter
4 Ultimate hotdog buns (woolies)
4t German mustard
 
Sweet pickle relish
 
8 Sweet and sour pickles, finely chopped
½ Red onion, finely diced
15g Parsley, finely chopped
1t Maple syrup
1t Tabasco
1t Smoked paprika
 
Using a sharp knife: cut either spirals or cross hatches into the frankfurter before adding to a pan with the oil heated to a medium heat.
Only they’ve slowly begun spiraling out and charring slightly give them another minute before removing.
 
Add the butter to the pan. Cut the buns open and toast in the butter until crisp. Add a generous amount of the mustard then the frankfurters and top with the sweet pickle relish.
 
To make the relish. Add the finely chopped pickled to a mixing bowl along with the onion and parsley. Drizzle in the maple syrup and tabasco and add the paprika before tossing together.
