Clover Margie Classic Gourmet Apple Crumble Jars

½cup        Margie Classic
½cup        Brown Sugar
1cup        Cake Flour   
½cup        Macadamia Nuts, chopped
1tsp        Salt
1tsp        Cinnamon
½tsp        Mixed Spice
½tsp        Nutmeg   
6        Apples of choice ( Granny Smith for a more tart apple, Golden delicious for sweeter )
2tbsp        Margie Classic
2tbsp        Sugar
1tsp        Vanilla essence
2tbsp        Raisins   
3        Cinnamon quills
        Clover Classic Custard or Vanilla Bean Ice cream to serve, dried apple chip to garnish.

  • Preheat oven to 180®C. In a bowl, add Margie Classic, flour and sugar. Rub the 3 ingredients together to form a loose dough, that should already resemble crumbs. Add more flour if the mix is too wet.
  • Add the macadamia nuts, salt, cinnamon, mixed spice and nutmeg. Mix though again to incorporate.
  • If the dough is too large in pieces, simply break down into smaller crumbs either before or after baking. You cannot make the crumb more coarse once baked, but you are able to make it finer if needs be.
  • Spread the crumb mixture onto a greased baking tray, then bake for roughly 10 minutes until the crumble is cooked through and starting to take a golden colour.
  • Allow cooling once the crumb is completely cooked through.
  • Peel the apples and cut into equal wedges or cubes, and toss in the sugar. Add Margie Classic to a frying pan and begin cooking apples until they start to caramelise and turn golden. Add cinnamon and raisins and allow to infuse at low heat. Remove from heat once syrup is formed and the apples have softened. This will thicken slightly as it stands and cools.
  • To serve, fill jars 2/3 of the way with the warm apple filling. Add a generous layer of crumble, then a large ball of ice cream on top. Finish with the dried apple chips and enjoy.
