We are joined in the studio by young up and coming singer, songwriter, Jazz musician Zoe Modiga. She may be a recent feature in the music scene, but she is already making a splash, having been in the Top 8 of season 1 of The Voice SA, she was also on the soundtrack of the Oscar nominated South African film “Noem My Skollie”.
Zoe was born in Overport, in Durban but was raised and grew up in Peitermaritzburg, but she didn’t want to spend all her time there, as she went on to follow her passion for music by studying vocals, classical piano and clarinet, at the National School of the Arts in situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. After graduating there she went on to study Jazz vocals at the South African College of Music, at UCT. Through this she has managed to accomplish quite a bit for herself, such as winning the SAMRO Overseas Scholarship Competition for singing, performing at a number of festivals and concerts such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, UCT Jazz Festival, Joy of Jazz and Artscape Youth Jazz Festival, among many others, where she shared stages with many large names in the industry.
2017 saw a new chapter in Zoe’s story as she released her debut album, “Yellow: The Novel”. The 23 track album is about self-exploration and the human experience, all blended together in a smooth, soul and jazzy feel.
