Long-running 7de Laan cast member Vinette Ebrahim is on Afternoon Express.
As part of 7de Laan Day on Afternoon Express, we welcome television veteran Vinette Ebrahim. Her recognisable face and curly greying hair has been seen on South African television for over 20 years, first appearing in Meeulanders, a drama that aired on SABC2 in 1996.
After Meeulanders, she starred in the short drama series Soutmansland which aired in 2000 and has been re-run on SABC regularly. However, it's Vinette's role on 7de Laan for which she is most popularly known. She has played the role of Charmaine Meintjies (née Beukes) since the series' inception in 2000 and has done so ever since. Vinette is also a stage actor who has received critical acclaim for her role as Ellen Pakkies in the production of the same name.
7de Laan is consistently ranked as one of the top TV shows in the country and has won numerous awards including 6 Golden Horn Awards and has won the SAFTA for Best Soap more times than any other South African soap opera. Its cast members also regularly walk away with awards at the SAFTAs and You Spectacular Award Shows.
