The Fashion Revolution
Cyril Naicker from Fashion Revolution
'We believe in fashion – an industry which values people, the environment, creativity and profits in equal measure, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure that this happens."
On 24th April each year, Fashion Revolution will bring everyone in the fashion value chain together and help to raise awareness of the true cost of fashion, show the world that change is possible, and celebrate all those involved in creating a more sustainable future.
As a global movement uniting around an annual campaign, over the next 5 years the Fashion Revolution team believe they will build considerable momentum and achieve incredible impact together. They recognise that, in many cases, Fashion Revolution will bring together organisations and people that, outside of us, remain competitors.
Their plans for this year are, for the first time, since we have been going (a total of 4 years) we have Durban on board. Last year Johannesburg came on board so this year, we all all three major cities active. Their focus is on education, we have local fashion campuses running poster competitions, showing the True Cost movie and basically educating future designers on the role that makes fashion responsible.
