We are joined by actor Thato Molamu, for our cook-along. Thato rose to prominent stardom in his role as bad boy Nicholas Nomvete on SABC 1’s Generations, where he was adored and hated by millions of viewers. Even after he left the show, Thato has gone on starring in multiple television roles
Thato had humble beginnings, growing up in Mafikeng, which is situated in the North-West province. His love for acting first began when he was introduced to theatre, at the young age of 12 years old. His love for the stage grew far and wide, and he soon found himself performing in festivals across the world, from the Grahamstown Festival, to ones such as 52 Seasons at the South African State Theatre, Edinburgh Arts festival in Scotland, the Black Arts Festival in Senegal, and the Black Arts Fest in London.
Thato is a humanitarian and activist through his Men for Women Foundation, he has also founded Gateway Media South Africa, which specialises in making innovative CSI Solutions. His humanitarian work has also resulted in him opening up the first Gauteng film academy in a township. The academy will be launched through a partnership of his Thato Molamu Foundation, and Gateway Media South Africa. The aim of the academy is to help empower and train young aspiring filmmakers from the townships.
