We speak to New York-born South African jewellery designer Thandie Dowery.

Here at Afternoon Express we are passionate about young local designers and we cherish the opportunity to showcase our country’s abundant talent. Joining us from Cape Town, is a young jewellery designer who is no exception and is making waves with her works of art, made using authentic shweshwe fabrics. This is Thandie Dowery.

By day, she works as a senior content manager for a creative agency, while her evenings are dedicated to growing her brand. She is currently based in Cape Town where she hopes to pursue her brand full time.

Nomi Handmade is a Cape Town-based brand that specialises in African print jewellery, home accessories and stationery. The fabric of choice is authentic shweshwe material, which is printed in the South Africa, is dyed with intricate patterns and comes in a variety of colours.
 
The Nomi Handmade range focuses on 8 prints in particular and includes necklaces, earrings, bracelets, picture frames, candles and notebooks.
